Dear friend,

If you’ve ever found yourself wondering…

Isn’t there a better way to live than this?
Where are my people?
Could I actually live in an intentional community…
and where would I find the one for me?

…this book is for you.

Return to Belonging is the guide I wish I had when I first started down this path. It’s the culmination of over a decade of visiting intentional communities around the world—more than 200 of them—plus my own lived experience of finding home in an ecovillage in Vermont.

It’s part personal story, part roadmap, and part love letter to all of us who are trying to find a better way to live, together.

What you’ll learn from this book:

  • What intentional community really looks like—beyond the myths and media

  • How to find the right community for your needs, lifestyle, and values

  • Ways to visit and vet communities (without the overwhelm or awkwardness)

  • What it takes to actually live well with others—practical tools and mindset shifts

  • How to move from curiosity into action, without uprooting your life overnight

  • Real stories from real people who have made the leap—and what they’ve learned along the way

This book is for you if…

  • You’re tired of doing life on your own and craving deeper connection

  • You’ve heard of ecovillages, cohousing, or cooperatives and want to learn more

  • You’re curious about community living but not sure where to begin

  • You’ve tried living with others before and want to do it with more intention

  • You’re ready to feel at home—in your life, in your relationships, and in yourself

About the Author

Cynthia Tina is a community matchmaker, educator, and guide for people who are ready to live with more intention, connection, and purpose.

She has visited over 200 intentional communities around the world—from ecovillages in India to cohousing neighborhoods in Vermont—learning firsthand what works, what doesn’t, and what it really takes to live well with others.

As the founder of Community Findersand Ecovillage Tours, she helps people find and join intentional communities that align with their values. Her work blends practical tools with deep listening, clarity with curiosity, and always—an invitation back to connection.

Cynthia lives in a small ecovillage in central Vermont, where she’s building her own home by hand, growing her business with care, and sharing life with her neighbors. She believes that belonging isn’t something we have to chase—it’s something we can choose, co-create, and come home to.

Cynthia was masterful. She helped me clarify the intentional communities that fit me, better get to know them, and finally choose one that I’m now a member of. She also raised my cultural understanding of community living to help me launch a new chapter of my life. I have no doubt anyone in a community journey will find great value in her guidance. Cynthia proved to be an excellent ally in assisting me in my search for ecovillages and communities. She recommended several sites that I had not heard of, many of the which she had visited personally. I felt very inspired and hopeful after our session — her enthusiasm for the regenerative movement is very infectious and genuine, which combined with her experience and commitment made her a great helper for finding the best next steps forward for myself.

You’re not alone in longing for something different.

And you're not crazy for imagining a better way.
This book is an invitation back to what we’ve always needed—each other.
